A Place of Vanishing lakes. Rahasane Turlough is just 2kms from Craughwell, Co. Galway. It is one of the largest turlough in Ireland. Lorraine has walked this area many times during the dry season. It is full of ‘sink holes’ and is used a commonage for local farmers that holds horses, cattle and sheep. There is almost a biblical story to be told here especially on days when the light hits the centre of the plain and all the wildlife converge including tufted ducks, teal and mallard. The environment here is so important, land reveals traces of history and one must do everything to protect the countryside.
