The Whistle Blowing / Connemara Railway

The Connemara Railway ran some 48 miles through from Galway to Clifden. Lorraine photographed the old line in the 90’s and on returning from university in 2003 she resumed taking photographs there. This work is firmly rooted in childhood memory as Lorraine says she can remember lying awake in her grandmother’s house on the holidays imagining trains rolling past the house there in Recess.

A solo exhibition of the work as held at Galway City Museum in 2008 and The Whistle Blowing was published in 2015 and launched as part of Clifden Arts Festival.
